Karyn Melligan, Ph.D
Dr. Karyn Melligan has more than 15 years of experience in Emergency Management, beginning her career as a wildland firefighter with the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection. In her current position as a consultant, she specializes in assisting clients in obtaining Federal Emergency Management and Homeland Security grants and evaluating emergency operations plans. Dr. Melligan is a subject matter expert with the Homeland Defense & Security Information Analysis Center and has previously taught a wide range of Emergency Management and Homeland Security courses, including but not limited to Weapons of Mass Destruction, Homeland Security, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Typology of Terrorism, and Disaster Planning & Management. Dr. Melligan has Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and three Master’s degrees, including Emergency and Disaster Management, Criminal Justice and Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, and a Ph.D. in Public Safety Leadership with a concentration in Emergency Management and Homeland Security. Dr. Melligan volunteers with the American Red Cross on a Disaster Action Team, and in her spare time, she enjoys hiking and time with family and friends.
