Wastewater Permit

Wastewater is the term used to describe water that finds its way into the sanitary sewer system through actions such as pouring down a drain or flushing down a toilet. It is imperative that any wastewater discharged into the sanitary sewer system adheres to the set standards outlined by local, state, and federal regulations. These rules serve a crucial purpose: safeguarding surface waters, ensuring the well-being and safety of treatment works, and preserving the quality of biosolids within wastewater treatment plants.

Pocatello Permit

The Pocatello campus has a Non-Residential Wastewater Discharge Permit (Permit No. ISU080219). This permit regulates the discharge of wastewater from campus to the wastewater treatment plant. The permit was effective 9/1/2019 and expires on 8/31/2024. The permit requires mandatory water quality sampling once per academic year at multiple outfalls across campus.

Pocatello Operations & Maintenance Plan

The Idaho State Pocatello Campus discharges wastewater from classrooms, research laboratories, medical and dental facilities, dining facilities, residence halls, event centers, retail stores, a swimming pool, and technological areas to the City of Pocatello Wastewater Treatment Plan. Idaho State is committed to preventing the discharge of pollutants into the sanitary sewer that may pass through or interfere with the operation of the wastewater treatment plant or reach the waters of the State. In compliance with permit requirements, EHS has developed a Wastewater Operations and Maintenance Plan.
