E-Text
E-text, short for "electronic text," refers to any text that is stored, displayed, or transmitted in a digital format. Unlike printed text, e-text is meant to be read on electronic devices such as computers, e-readers, smartphones, or tablets.
E-text can include a variety of formats, such as:
- Plain text files (like .txt)
- E-books (in formats like .epub)
- Word or PDF documents
- Web content (such as articles or blogs)
The key characteristic of e-text is that it is accessible electronically, making it easier to distribute, store, and manipulate compared to physical printed materials. It can also be adjusted in terms of font size, color, and style to improve readability.
Disability Services provides E-Texts for students with qualifying disabilities. E-Texts are digital versions of textbooks that supplement the initial physical version of course textbooks and provide more accessibility.
