Cosmetology
Program Description
Cosmetologists perform a variety of beauty services which cover all phases of the beauty culture such as manicuring, shampooing, hair styling, make-up application, temporary and permanent hair waving, hair straightening, bleaching and tinting, and various skin and scalp treatments. Cosmetologists often specialize in any one or more of these services. The art of hairstyling is no longer the major activity in the cosmetology industry. It has grown to be an increasingly complex and artistic profession. Strong human relations skills and the ability to communicate with people are of major importance.
Aptitudes and Interests: Good hand, finger and eye dexterity combined with artistic and creative skills enhance the ability to succeed in this field. Communication and human relation skills are also invaluable.

Cosmetology Instructor Training (14 Semester Hours)
- Candidates assume instructional and management responsibilities in supervised settings, including lesson planning, audio visual aid preparation, theory instruction, practical demonstration, testing and evaluation, and clinic floor supervision.

Attendance and Hours for Cosmetology
1st semester a minimum of 571 hours , minimum grade of 75% in 1116 & 1117 and business in order to move to 2nd semester. Missing the mark in any one of these will keep the student from moving forward to 2nd semester.
2nd semester a minimum of 571 hours, a minimum of 75% grade in 1126 & 1127 and business in order to move to either the summer section or 3rd semester. ( depending on your cohort) Missing the mark in any one of these will keep the student from moving forward to the 3rd semester or summer section. (depending on your cohort)
3rd semester a minimum of 571 hours, a minimum grade of 75% in 2236 & 2237 & business classes to graduate. Missing the mark in any one of these will result in not graduating and returning.
Summer section a minimum of 287 hours, a minimum grade of 75% is needed to move onto your next class which depends on your cohort.
