Helper Sections
Helper sections appear in each branch and have a specific purpose. Examples are branch_title and left_sidebar.
Helper sections have specific names.
If the names are altered, the helper sections will not function properly.
In general, helper sections should not be deleted.
If you make a change to a helper section, you need to publish the entire branch for the changes to appear everywhere.
branch_title
The branch_title section is necessary for your navigation menu to function properly.
It contains a content type that you can't edit.
Do not delete it.
If the branch_title section is deleted, your site will inherit the navigation menu of the site that is above it in the site structure. It will be confusing.
left_sidebar
All content types that are placed in the left_sidebar section will appear underneath the navigation menu when using the Left navigation page layout. The content will show on all pages of the branch.
If you want a section with unique sidebar content, create a child section for that section and name it left_sidebar
Content types placed in that new left_sidebar section will appear on its parent section and nowhere else.
right_sidebar
All content types that are placed in the right_sidebar section will appear underneath the navigation menu when using the Top navigation with right sidebar page layout. The content will show on all pages of the branch.
If you want a section with unique sidebar content
create a child section for that section and name it right_sidebar
content types placed in that new right_sidebar section will appear on its parent section and nowhere else.
staff_directory_entries
This section is used in conjunction with the Staff directory entry and Staff Directory Layout Generator content types. Staff directory entries are placed in the staff_directory_entries section.
The Staff Directory Layout Generator is placed on a parent page and uses content from the staff_directory_entries section to populate the section on which it is placed.
