Outdoor Facilities

Note: As of July 2020, the Main rubble pile lanes have been set. The gathering of supplies for Conex box and shoring lanes is ongoing. Since the rubble pile has already been set, creating different scenarios with the shoring lane by using a series of Conex boxes will be done very soon. As for the future of the rubble pile, it planned to be expanded into different scenarios to include: high-angle rope rescue, more subterranean lanes, and varied emergency response situations.

The DRC is determined to provide the most realistic training experience including full safety and control. Our outdoor facility includes different kinds of scenarios to train in, which are most likely to appear in the disaster affected area. Our outdoor facility area has spread out in more than three acres with a 200 ft. by 200 ft. area for training lanes and 200 ft. by 400 ft. pad area for equipment, tents, personnel, decontamination, etc.

The Disaster Response Complex is capable of constructing various lanes through modular construction. Three basic lanes have been constructed:

A Conex box is placed at the site and easily accessible from the outside
A concrete slab is fixed to the side of the Conex box with a cable in tension and partially stuck in the ground
- Mimics a falling wall
Inside the Conex box is a mimic of a collapsed ceiling

Scenario: On the outside of the Conex box, there is a wall that must be secured before entering the building. On the inside, there is a collapsed ceiling that must be braced and a partition wall that needs to be breached in order to rescue the victim on the other side.
