Do students need to buy a membership to use the Student Recreation Center?
No.  All part-time and full-time activity fee paying students have gym privileges automatically.  Students who do not pay activity fees will need to purchase their gym membership. "Reduced fee students" include those taking classes as dual enrolled/early college, senior citizen, FS, and FS spouse students.  Please note that "activity fees" are different from lab or class fees.

Do ISU Faculty and Staff need to purchase a gym membership to use the facility?
Yes.

Why are faculty, staff, alumni, and retirees charged to use the Student Recreation Center and Swimming Pool?
ISU students fund the Student Recreation Center, including its construction in 2007-2008, through activity fee payment  Student fees are the primary funding source for Student Recreation Center and swimming pool operations.  The philosophy behind charging non-students is that all who use the facilities help pay for its operations.

Do I have to be affiliated with ISU to buy a membership?
Any community members (ages 18+) may purchase a gym membership.

Who is eligible to purchase a spouse membership?
Faculty, staff, adjuncts, affiliates, alumni, and retirees may all purchase spouse memberships.  Spouses of current students will purchase or renew their Student Spouse Bengal ID at Campus Connection to be eligible for a discounted gym membership rate.

Who is eligible to purchase dependent memberships?
We do not sell memberships to community members who are under age 18.  However, currently-enrolled students, ISU Alumni Association members, or full-time benefited employees with gym memberships may purchase a membership for their dependent(s), age 16-19. Dependents may use the facilities without parental supervision with these memberships.

May a spouse purchase a membership if the employee/alumnus/retiree has not?
Yes, spouses of full-time, part-time staff, adjuncts, affiliates, retirees, and alumni can purchase a membership even if the primary person does not have a membership.

What types of memberships are available?
Memberships are sold by the month. Any number of months can be purchased, up to 12 months.  Day passes are also available.

Do Faculty/Staff and spouses need to purchase a membership if they are taking classes?
If you are a faculty/staff member and are taking classes on reduced tuition ($5 credits), you do not pay student activity fees (also known as the "consolidated fee.") Waived-fee students may purchase a membership at the student semester rate at Campus Recreation.
