Stage Makeup & Special Effects

Turning an actor into a character can sometimes require attention to hair and makeup needs. Learn how to bring a character to life with certain makeup techniques. Specialty techniques include: Blood and Guts (for all your haunted house creatures), airbrush, historical period style, animal stylization.

State Standards

These presentations meet the following state education standards for high school students:

Theatre

Anchor Standard 1: Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work.

TH:Cr1.1.IIIa Synthesize knowledge from a variety of dramatic forms, theatrical conventions, and technologies to create the visual composition of a drama/ theatre work.

TH:Cr1.1.IIIc Integrate cultural and historical contexts with personal experiences to create a character that is believable and authentic, in a drama/theatre work.

 

Anchor Standard 2: Organize and develop artistic ideas and work.

TH:Cr2-III Develop and synthesize original ideas in a drama/theatre work utilizing critical analysis, historical and cultural context, research, and western or nonwestern theatre traditions.

 

Interdisciplinary Humanities

Anchor Standard 4: Convey meaning through the presentation/performance/production of an original work or unique interpretation of a work.

Objective PR1.1 Combine knowledge and understanding from two or more disciplines to present/perform their original or interpreted works for an audience.
