Special Call for Proposals
The Cultural Events Committee still has funding available for mini-grants or large-grants to support events occurring before the end of the 2017-2018 fiscal year (June 30).
Applications will be reviewed in order of their submission through March 5, 2018 or until all CEC funds have been committed (whichever occurs first).
Though cost-share on projects is encouraged, it is not required for these applications.
Please submit your grant application to the committee chair, Bethany Schultz Hurst (email@example.com), on or before Monday, March 5 at 5 p.m. Feel free to contact the chair with any questions about suitability of proposals.
The Idaho State University Cultural Events Committee has allocated money to be awarded as Mini-Grants.
The Mini-Grant program is designed to help academic departments and colleges bring to campus speakers, artists and special programs in areas important and relevant to the interests of the university community.
The intention of this program is to provide cost-share money; if possible, the individual department or college should provide fifty percent of the cost, and priority will be given to proposals with substantial cost sharing. The maximum amount of any one Mini-Grant is $500.
The Cultural Events Committee (CEC) expects to be informed in a timely manner of the schedule for the Mini-Grant speakers, artists, or special programs and to be mentioned in all publicity.
Departments, colleges and schools must comply with reimbursement policies set forth in the grant guidelines, and should communicate with the chair of the committee about procedures for reimbursement. Reimbursement will be limited to actual expenses, less the cost-share contributed by the department or college. Costs for travel should be kept to a minimum by using advance-purchase airfares. Lodging options include local hotels that ISU has contracts with, or, reserving a room in the Pond Student Union Building. Refer to ISU's travel website for monetary forms.
Requests for Mini-Grants should be completed on the fillable pdf form and emailed to Gretchen Jensen at (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the College of Arts & Letters office. Any questions about the Mini-Grant program should be directed to the chair of the Cultural Events Committee.
Large Grant Program
The Cultural Events Committee has funds available to be awarded for large grants.
The Large Grant Program is designed to help departments and colleges bring to campus speakers, artists, and special programs in areas important and relevant to the interests of the university community. The amount of each grant varies according to the specific needs of the events.
These grants are distributed throughout the year but before the end of the fiscal year, and to the extent of the allocated budget, which varies from year to year.
Please note that preference will be given to those applicants providing evidence of cost-share funding from sources outside the CEC.
All events must be either free and open to the public or, if admission is charged, the Cultural Events Committee will request a portion of the proceeds proportionate to the amount funded:
- If the Committee funds 50% or more of the costs of an event, it would receive 50% of the profits.
- If the Committee funds less than 50% of the costs, it would receive the equivalent percentage of the profits (e.g., if 30% of the costs, then 30% of the profits).
Requests for Large Grants should be completed on the fillable PDF form provided below. All sections of the form, including budgets, must be completed to ensure committee review. Incomplete applications will be returned.
All Large Grant applications require a final report within one month after the event has taken place. Reports must be submitted to the Chair of the Cultural Events Committee in the College of Arts & Letters. Your final report should include the following
- a brief description summarizing the event(s)
- how and where the event was advertised
- whether attendance expectations were met
- final budget summary, justification of the amount spent vs. the amount proposed
- reconciliation of funds to be returned/remitted to Cultural Events Committee
- event documents, which may include but are not limited to:
- articles from lectures

Applicants are encouraged to apply early in the academic year to ensure funding.
Deadlines for both Mini-Grant and Large Grant applications for both Fall and Spring semesters is the first Monday of October during the Fall Semester.
Deadline for late Spring Semester projects is the first Monday of February.

The Cultural Events Committee (CEC) seeks to fund new projects throughout the university community. The CEC invites all Idaho State University Faculty, full-time and adjunct, to apply for either a Mini-Grant or Large Grant.
Multiple applications from within a given department for different events will be considered. However, only one application from an individual will be funded within an academic year.
Preference will be given to applicants who have not received funding during the previous academic year, and to those applicants providing evidence of cost-share funding from sources outside the CEC.
Please note that CEC funds cannot be used to pay stipends to ISU employees.
Incomplete applications will be returned.
