Department of Art Raises $5,500 at Fifth Annual Art a la Carte Event

Idaho State University’s Department of Art raised $5,500 at its fifth annual Art a la Carte event on Feb. 15.

“We are appreciative of the many people from our community who came out to enjoy some chili and purchase faculty, student and alumni artwork to support our students,” said Department of Art Chair Naomi Velasquez.

The event is hosted each year to help raise money for student scholarships and visiting artists.

Patrons were able to eat a chili dinner, purchase pieces through a silent art auction, participate in a children's art activity and view demonstrations in the various art studios.

The silent auction allows patrons to bid on art made by students, faculty and alumni. Items being auctioned off included jewelry, ceramics, prints, sculptures, wearables and paintings. New this year, students, faculty, friends and alumni created a special coloring book that was available for sale during the week of the event.

“We love that this event allows our community members and supporters to take home artwork created by our talented faculty, students, and alumni,” Velasquez said.
