Welcoming Dr. Joshua Swift as the New Chair of the Department of Psychology

The College of Arts and Letters and the Department of Psychology at Idaho State University are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Joshua K. Swift as the new Chair of the psychology department.
Dr. Swift has been with the department for nine years and contributes a wealth of experience and expertise in Clinical Psychology.
Dr. Swift says, “I am honored by the opportunity to serve with such strong faculty members in the Department of Psychology.”
Dr. Swift's educational background includes a B.S. in Psychology with a Minor in Logic from Brigham Young University and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Oklahoma State University. He completed his predoctoral clinical internship at SUNY Upstate Medical University. His research focuses on psychotherapy processes and outcomes and relationship factors that contribute to successful treatment outcomes. Dr. Swift’s extensive research and dedication to advancing understanding of psychotherapy has been invaluable to the department.
The College of Arts and Letters and Department of Psychology would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Sam Peer for his exceptional leadership and dedication as the Acting Chair for the past four months following the passing of our dear colleague and Chair, Dr. Tera Letzring. Dr. Peer’s contributions have been instrumental in maintaining the excellence and integrity of the Department of Psychology during this transitional period.
