Announcing the Mike and Luci B. Willits Leadership Scholarship

Idaho State University is proud to announce the establishment of the Mike and Luci B. Willits Leadership Scholarship.

This generous endowment will provide an annual $1,000 scholarship to a full-time ISU student who is actively participating in student government or the Bengal newspaper staff. Preference will be given to students from Jefferson County, Idaho, and students from rural Idaho.

This significant contribution by Mike and Luci Willits of Boise, Idaho, underscores their deep commitment to fostering academic excellence and leadership within the student community at Idaho State University.

Both Mike and Luci Willits have strong ties to ISU and Idaho. Luci earned her degree in American Studies in 1998 and served as the editor of the Bengal Newspaper, while Mike studied management and served as ASISU President from 1998-1999.

Luci, a proud Idahoan and daughter of a farmer and small business owner, grew up in Eastern Idaho. She and Mike have two adult daughters who graduated from West Ada high schools. Throughout her career, Luci has been a leader in both private industry and state and federal government. She currently serves as the Vice President for Public Policy at an education technology company and is in her second term on the Boise City Council.

Mike Willits is a prominent figure in Idaho’s insurance and risk management industry, having held various marketing and executive roles at Northwest-based insurance carriers. He currently serves as a district manager for Farmers Insurance. Mike is deeply involved in his community, having served in leadership roles with the Idaho Red Cross and the West Ada Education Foundation. An avid world traveler, Mike has visited over 80+ countries and all seven continents.
