2014, B.S. Environmental Studies, Davidson College, Davidson, NC
Carolyn earned her Bachelors of Science in Environmental Studies from Davidson College in North Carolina (2010-2014), where she worked with Professor Brad Johnson to research the relationship between impervious surface coverage and the flashiness of headwater streams. Carolyn then moved to rural Tanzania for 15 months where she taught art and environmental science at a secondary school for vulnerable girls. Living in a developing country where access to clean water was a real, daily concern furthered her interests in water and the ways that human actions impact its quality and availability. Carolyn’s research interests include understanding the ways in which stormwater management and stream restoration projects can be used to minimize these human impacts and in the socio-political factors that influence stormwater management decisions across diverse regions.
