Teaching
Biographical Sketch
Dr. Bearden is an exercise physiologist with particular interest in ultra endurance performance. His doctoral training was in a combined nutrition and exercise science department at Florida State University with an emphasis on bioenergetics. Postdoctoral training took him to the Yale School of Medicine where he developed novel approaches to studying the microcirculation of skeletal muscle. Upon arriving to Idaho State University in the fall of 2004, he built his laboratory in the study of muscle and brain microcirculation. He has now returned to his roots in performance physiology, collaborates with the US Army on warfighter performance, studies mountain ultra-marathon runners. The communication and application of science for non-scientists and the general public is a recent addition to his activities; he bridges the gap between science and public understanding through a science-focused podcast.
