Biology Graduate Student Association (BGSA)
The BGSA is composed of and supports graduate students in the Department of Biological Sciences at Idaho State University. The mission of the BGSA is to enrich the graduate student experience and to represent, support, and promote graduate student interests and values. An integral and essential part of the department and ISU community, the BGSA provides programs and services aiding in recruitment and retention of graduate students, represents graduate student interests to the department and university administration, and builds a strong sense of community both on and off campus. In addition, BGSA is committed to the promotion of scientific literacy on and off campus and will promote and participate in programs and activities to this end.

The BGSA in the Community of Scholars
Student involvement is stimulated through community development. We help to create a culture of involvement, leadership, and support, as well as inclusion and transparency, for students and faculty alike. The BGSA oversees four committees, Fundraising, Guest Speakers, Community Service, and Travel Grants, as well as seven departmental committees. The faculty advisor assists with developing policy to promote the BGSA mission statement and serves as a mentor to develop leadership skills and provide support amongst the graduate students.
