Letter from the President
Happy Holidays! As we reflect on the last year, I'd like to take a moment to highlight some of our Bengals' major accomplishments. At ISU, we are challenging the traditional thinking in higher education and advancing our health care mission,
as well as our array of academic offerings and research opportunities. We are committed to developing a well-educated workforce able to think, innovate and execute.
We continue to see enrollment growth in strategic areas across the University, including a 10 percent increase in our Early College Enrollment program. We are expanding our research efforts, specifically in the fields of energy bioscience and health care. This research is having a direct impact on the citizens of Idaho. For example, our 15 regional health clinics provided more than 50,000 patient visits last year.
We are also looking forward to reinvesting significant funds back into our University. The result of increased financial efficiencies across campus is enabling us to reinvest nearly $7 million - the majority going to academic programs, deferred maintenance and infrastructure projects. This initiative includes significant investments in technology, facilities upgrades, research support, a property purchase, and additional recruitment and retention efforts to support our strategic enrollment goals.
We are grateful for your continued support of Idaho State University. It is my honor and privilege to serve as your president. ISU is, and will continue to make, a significant impact in our state and across the country. Our Bengals are changing the world every day, and I couldn't prouder of each and every one of you!
Go Bengals!
Arthur C. Vailas, Ph.D.
