Vice President's Message

Idaho State University's top priority is the success of our students. Toward that goal, we have dedicated resources and actively plan and implement programs, activities and services which support students in their academic, personal, ethical, cultural, social and career development. We also promote and facilitate healthy lifestyles and mental and physical wellness. At ISU you will have opportunities to interact with faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds. Our students come from 64 different countries. Student Affairs staff are well educated and highly trained professionals who care about students and believe that it is a privilege to serve as mentors and champions. We believe that our work with students has value, meaning and purpose.

The majority of programs within student affairs are intentionally focused to complement what students are learning in the classroom. These co-curricular activities provide opportunities for students to practice and apply academic concepts and theories. In addition to our 150 plus academic, social, cultural, Greek, honorary, religious, service and philanthropy, sports and special student clubs and organizations founded and led by students for students, we offer the following unique programs:

  • The Veterans Sanctuary
  • An Academic Minor in Leadership
  • The Outdoor Adventure Center
  • The Rendezvous (a unique living learning community)

One of the newest programs at ISU is the Career Path Internship. Students have the opportunity to apply to work in paid, on-campus positions that complement their academic major or area of study and research. More than $1.4M has been budgeted for the CPI Program for 2012-13.

Lastly, what sets our community apart is the welcoming environment, academic challenges, and seamless learning opportunities that enhance the mind, body and spirit, all located in a city that clearly values and welcomes students by hosting the annual Communiversity event each year with food, activities and music. Pocatello is one of the safest cities in the U.S. and last year, ISU was ranked as the seventh safest campus in the United States

Congratulations on joining our extraordinarily gifted and talented student body. If you have any questions, concerns or need assistance in any way, let us know. We're glad you're here! Go Bengals!
