The Jensen Challenge
In September 2006, Idaho State University alumnus Joseph C. Jensen ('66) and his wife, Cheryl, namesakes of the Grand Concert Hall in the Stephens Performing Arts Center, announced a remarkable challenge: They pledged up to $250,000 to match the purchase of additional named seats in the Stephens Center. Their generous gift will support an endowment to help ISU continue bringing talented performers from around the world to Pocatello—not only to perform, but to work closely with ISU faculty and students.
We invite you to join the Jensens, and many others, in supporting the performing arts in southeastern Idaho. Just click the "Jensen Challenge logo" above and in just a few minutes, you too, can become part of the Stephens Center legacy.
Letter from Dr. Vailas
As Idaho State University’s new president, it has been my honor to be a part of the progress of this great institution. A major component of that progress has been the contribution to the quality of education at the University, and to the quality of life in our part of Idaho. This world-class complex has taken the performing arts in Idaho to unprecedented levels of quality and professionalism. Today, we have the opportunity to further expand the cultural offerings in this region through appreciation of the arts, which are flowing ever more into our community because of the Stephens Performing Arts Center.
In September 2006, ISU alumnus Joseph C. Jensen (’66) and his wife, Cheryl, announced a remarkable challenge to help the Center rise to the next level. Joe and Cheryl pledged up to $250,000 to match the sale of additional seats in the Center. Their gift will be added to an endowment that will help bring even more talented performers from around the world to Pocatello—not only to perform, but also to work closely with our faculty and students.
Sixty-six named seats have been sold since the announcement of the Jensen Challenge. That is compelling evidence of the support the performing arts have at Idaho State University, and in Idaho. Yet I believe that together we can do much more to take full advantage of the Jensen Challenge.
We are honored by your interest in this remarkable facility. I encourage you to accept the Jensen Challenge, to join the Center’s growing list of supporters, and to do so today. This challenge will end October 1, and I am eager indeed to say that with your support, we succeeded. With this letter is information about how you can easily begin the process of in any of the Center’s three state-of-the-art performing venues. Please consider a gift, which the Jensens will match, to continue bringing great cultural and artistic events to our part of Idaho.
