Annie Mendoza - Classified Staff

Pocatello Campus

Hello! My name is Annie Mendoza and I’ve worked at ISU for 13 years.  I currently am the Administrative Assistant in the Institute of Rural Health. I’ve also worked in the Audiology Clinic, Office of the Registrar, and Idaho Center for Disabilities Evaluation as part of my 13 years of employment here.

I started my ISU journey as a student, earning a bachelor’s degree, and have worked at ISU most of my adult life! I love ISU and all it has to offer for students, staff, and the community. I’m working on a master’s degree and consider myself a lifelong learner! My personal hobbies include reading, crafting, and watching old Hollywood movies.

I want to serve on Staff Council because I am heavily invested in ISU! I believe in servant leadership and I want to gain more experiences serving others, building up my co-workers, and developing skills that can help me now and in the future. I want to bring my unique perspectives and experience- along with yours- to provide leadership, promote staff needs in the university’s governance, and provide some fun activities for staff!

Karen Mayhew - Classified Staff

Meridian Campus

Hello, my name is Karen Mayhew. I am the Administrative Assistant 1 for the Administration Front Office in the ISU Meridian campus. I have been with ISU for over 6-months.

I would like to apply for the Staff Council Committee position because I would like to learn more about ISU and the staff members that I work closely with. I enjoy seeing staff members connect with other staff where they can communicate, collaborate, engage and learn from each other. As a previous teacher, I enjoyed the interactions I had with parents, teachers and students. Those interactions gave opportunities for connections and growth.

A little about myself. I am married to my best friend of almost 26 years. I have an 18-year son currently a first-year student in college. I have a Bachelors degree in Child and Adolescent Studies. I enjoy outdoor adventures such as; hiking, backpacking, skiing and snowshoeing.

I would like to take this opportunity to serve on the Staff Council Committee as I am challenged to learn more about what I can do to help connect and support all ISU staff members.

Jules Churba-Pyzer - Classified Staff

Pocatello Campus

I currently work in the Office of the Registrar as the Military Tuition Assistance Coordinator, and I previously worked at Public Safety as a Dispatcher. I have multiple degrees from ISU in Psychology, Sociology, and English. I have seen many sides of ISU, ranging from the administrative duties that go into maintaining smooth and efficient campus operations to the educational breadth of knowledge, compassion, and encouragement in the ISU colleges and departments.

In my time on ISU's campus as both a student and a contracted employee, I have seen the importance of community and the sense of belonging that ISU employees work hard to foster. In my time as a staff member, I have constantly been reminded that I am a valued member of the Bengal family and that my hard work and talent are an asset to ISU. I have never felt more appreciated in a workplace than in my time at ISU. I want to serve on the Staff Council to offer my unique experiences and/or perspectives regarding matters on campus. Matters that concern students, staff, faculty, education, and/or campus resources are all something I would like to assist in supporting from the front lines on the Staff Council.

Zach McMurtry - Classified Staff

Pocatello Campus

The opportunity to serve on the staff council has been something that I have thought about from the time I started here at the University. It's been 6 years and the time is right to throw my hat in the ring.

I am the maintenance and operations supervisor for the student union, campus rec, the early learning center, and a few more campus locations. This position requires me to be a leader, a problem solver, and a friend to my fellow employees. These qualities would be beneficial in a staff council role. Pride in the University and this community are the driving factors behind wanting to serve on the council.

I would like to join Staff Council to help support its mission of representing and advocating for the best interests of all staff members. Mohammed Alquarashi- Non-classified Staff

Pocatello Campus

I came to ISU as an international student in 2011 and earned three degrees. During my studies, I worked various part-time jobs, such as custodial and teaching assistant. After that, I worked part-time with EHS for two years before applying for a full-time position. I have been working full-time for the past three years and will soon be getting my permanent residence.

During my time at ISU, I have had a diverse range of experiences as a student and employee. I have worked as a part-time and full-time staff member. I believe that these experiences make me a valuable addition to the staff council, and I am excited to learn from being a member of it.

As a staff member, I have seen the great work that the staff council has done in recent years. I am eager to join the team and help improve the effort and representation that the council provides for the staff.

Karen Matteucci- Non-classified Staff

Pocatello Campus

I think this would be a great opportunity to become more involved on campus and learn how I can have a positive impact in areas I do not currently know. Being able to collaborate with other entities and build relationships would be very beneficial.

As the Director of Research & Information Technology for Advancement, I have been working on building bridges for data sharing across the university. I feel that by building relationships in all areas of campus, we open doors towards partnerships and working together to reach common goals.

If you feel that I may be a good fit to serve on the next Staff Council, I would like to be considered.

I have been working at ISU for six and a half years. I worked in the College of Technology and have been working in the accounts payable office for the last year and a half. I want to serve on the staff counsel because it will give me a change to help the university outside of my normal job. I would like a chance to get involved!

Jason Belcher- Non-classified Staff

Pocatello Campus

My name is Jason Belcher. Currently, I am employed as the Asbestos Services Program Manager for Idaho State University, in the facilities department. Although this is a non-classified position, I began my employment at ISU as a classified employee, on the maintenance team.

My journey has allowed me to experience the campus from a few different perspectives. Beginning as a maintenance craftsman in a classified position and progressing to my current role has given me valuable experience from both positions and an understanding of the differences in the way the positions are structured. Additionally, I have been able to personally experience the restrictions and benefits from each capacity. While serving the ISU community as an employee, I have been attending credited courses as a student. This has allowed me to place myself in the shoes of the attendees and the challenges that face them, which are usually tied to or sourced in some way to the challenges we experience as employees and staff. Overall, the university is viewed as a community to me.

For that reason, it is my hope that I am allowed to serve my community from a Staff Council standpoint, helping to forge an even friendlier and more productive campus for all. Thank you.

Jason Belcher

Heather Kimmett- Non-classified Staff

Meridian Campus

In my role, I get to collaborate with different people/groups across campus and I would like to enhance that role by being an advocate for positive change on behalf of my fellow staff members. One of my favorite things is getting to learn more about the university and all the great work being done. It would be my honor to contribute to the success and cohesion of the campus community.
