Overview

Since 1974, Idaho State University has offered a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics. Idaho State University offers the only approved Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) in the state. Students in pre-dietetics programs at Boise State University, the College of Southern Idaho, and BYU-Idaho College who meet the requirements for the DPD program may apply to the Idaho State University program.

It is important for students to meet with an advisor before applying to ISU to insure proper transfer courses are taken. The DPD integrates practical experience in food service management, clinical nutrition, and community outreach with the traditional classroom curriculum. Most of the graduates of the DPD Program have completed a dietetic internship, and become eligible to take the National Registration Examination.

ISU offers a Dietetic Internship program as a post-graduate supervised practice during two semesters. Admission into the DPD does not ensure acceptance into the ISU Dietetic Internship.
