An Evening with Belinda Bowler set Nov. 12 at Stephens Center
October, 14, 2016
POCATELLO – Idaho State University will host a free concert featuring Belinda Bowler at the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center’s Jensen Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12.
This concert will also showcase the concert hall’s new sound system.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to perform at the Grand Concert Hall at ISU,” Bowler said. “I have heard amazing things about the quality of sound and the beauty of the Hall and look forward to singing some songs in this state of the art venue.”
A Boise native, Bowler has been singing as long as she can remember. Her father was a professional singer and from an early age she learned the value of a good story told in song. He bought her first guitar in a thrift store and with it she began the musical journey of her life. In her 20s and 30s she played clubs and concerts around the Pacific Northwest and has performed a couple of tours abroad, writing her own songs as well as interpreting the songs of others.
In 2000 she traded in life on the road to study education and became a grade school teacher. Music was a daily part of her classroom, using song to teach curriculum and explore the power of language. Now, she is back with a new CD called “Trumpet Vine,” a collection of songs that speak of love, loss and healing.
