Robotics and Communication Systems Engineering Technology

Program Objectives

Graduates of the Robotics and Communication Systems Engineering Technology program will:

  1. Obtain gainful employment as professional, highly skilled, broad-based electronics technicians capable of working in a wide variety of electronics-related fields.
  2. Continue to expand their knowledge and remain current in a continuously expanding industry.
  3. Successfully integrate as productive team members in the electronics industry utilizing written, oral and electronic communications skills.
  4. Develop, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and circuitry integrated in audio, video, communications, robotics, and pulse electronic systems.
  5. Complete projects, produce project overviews with written and oral presentation components, and identify and address potential financial, ethical, and social concerns.

Student Outcomes

Graduates of the Robotics and Communication Systems Engineering Technology program will have:

  1. Ability to solve problems in mathematics through Calculus I, and physics 1100.
  2. Ability to calculate and predict the outcome of a binary, octal, or hexadecimal mathematical function.
  3. Appropriate mastery of knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools necessary for basic electronic project development, and component level repair.
  4. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot electronic circuitry from schematics, technical circuit descriptions, block diagrams, and test point waveforms.
  5. Ability to work in teams as a member or leader to cooperatively solve problems.
  6. Ability to effectively communicate with and demonstrate projects to individuals varied electronics experience and backgrounds, support personnel, and industry representatives.
  7. Ability to record and explain data, and convey ideas through written and electronic media.
  8. Ability to accept, record, reformat, display, and provide a desired outcome to user entered or electronically acquired data through software development.
  9. Ability to accurately create schematics, connection diagrams, block diagrams, and timing diagrams for a given circuit or system.
  10. Ability to effectively and safely connect and operate electronic test equipment utilizing the manufactures operation manual and technical application notes.
  11. Ability to work within given safety guidelines, project specifications, and within a given budget.
  12. Ability to develop an awareness of current environmental, ethical, and social issues in the electronics industry and the how current practices are affected by these issues.
