Medical Assisting Faculty
I am a Master Instructor, MA Program Coordinator, Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education, and Administrative/Clinical Instructor. I have worked in the medical field for 36 years. I worked for a very busy orthopedic surgical practice for 16 years and during that time, 1991-1997, I taught as an adjunct instructor in the medical option program prior to the formation of the Medical Assisting program. I was hired full time to coordinate the program in 1997 and within one year was able to get the program accredited with AAMA and CAAHEP. The program continues to have a strong accreditation status which ensures our students the opportunity to sit for national certification testing in order to be credentialed as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
I have an advanced teaching certificate and continue to hold a current certification with the AAMA. I maintain a very close relationship with the medical facilities in the area in order to provide students with excellent sites for externships.
I have lived most of my life in Pocatello with the exception of a few years in California, Texas and Germany. I have 4 children and 9 grandchildren and am married to a wonderful man, Steve. I worked at ISU for 5 years in the Psychology Clinic before obtaining my Associates Degree in Medical Assisting in 2006. I then worked at Health West until I was hired to be an instructor in the Medical Assisting Program. I am active in our local, state and national organizations and am currently the Vice President/President Elect for the state society.
