ENGL 1102: Critical Reading and Writing

Focus on critical reading; research methods; gathering, evaluating, analyzing, and synthesizing ideas and evidence; documentation; writing essays based on reading

ANTH 2237: Peoples and Cultures of Southeast Asia

Examination of human social and cultural diversity from different parts of the Old World. Topics include structure, ecology, religion, politics, and language.

ENGL 2257: Survey of World Literature

Examination of major works and authors in historical perspective, with emphasis upon literacy and cultural backgrounds.

HIST 1102: Modern Europe

Europe’s rise and decline as the dominant world region during the second global age, from 1700 to present

PHIL 1101: Introduction to Philosophy

An introduction to the major thinkers and major problems in Western philosophical and scientific traditions.

POLS 2202: Introduction to Politics

Introduction to critical thinking about politics. Students learn to comprehend and critically analyze discourse and writings on political and social issues.

PSYC 1101: Intro to General Psychology

Introduction to the study of human behavior and mental processes, with emphases on history, theories, research methods and findings, and applications in psychology’s major areas of study.

IS 2203: Intro to International Organizations

This courses takes a thematic approach to introduce students to international organizations, their formation, legal foundations, functions, operations, and performances.

THEA 1101: Survey of Theatre

An audience-oriented course in the creative processes and aesthetic principles which guide artists of live theatre, film, television in shaping and reflection of human value.

COMM 1101: Principles of Speech

Basic course in oral communication that emphasizes the theory and practice of informative speaking, logical argumentation, persuasion, small group discussion, and interpersonal communication.

SHOS 1101: Elementary Shoshoni

Basic communication skills and grammar of Shoshoni and introduction to Shoshoni culture.

ART 1100: Introduction to Art

A study of the elements of visual art, various media and techniques of artistic expression, with a brief historical overview.

Dance 1105: Survey of Dance

Historical development of dance cross-culturally from early to modern times. A study of language, literature, and forms of dance through readings, demonstrations, and performances.
